Romantic Getaways to Fiji

Why are celebrities such as Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson, and The Bachelorette’s Trista Rehn choosing Fiji for their romantic honeymoons? Why are young women all across America dreaming of Turtle Island as the perfect way to spend the first days of being newlyweds? Since The Blue Lagoon was released in 1980, Fiji has captured the romantic hearts of couples and became a hotspot for honeymoons, romantic vacations or just fun getaways.

Fiji has 330 islands about 1,900 miles from Sydney, Australia, some with private resorts and others totally deserted. When imagining a place with white sandy beaches, palm trees, beautiful coral reefs and seclusion, Fiji fits the profile perfectly. Along with this ambiance comes some of the best island hospitality. The Fijian people are always friendly, saying “Bula” (hello) at every turn, going out of their way to make you feel welcome and comfortable. Fiji offers a variety of other fun activities, such as kayaking, exploring limestone caves, sailing around the many islands or just relaxing on the beach.

Beaches

If your idea of paradise is relaxing on the perfect beach, Fiji has plenty of spots to go around. Some of the beaches are only accessible by resort guests or boat. Yasawa Island is a beautiful island with several pristine beaches. Horseshoe Bay on Matagi Island is a wonderful location, for guests or by boat only. You also can't go wrong with most of the private islands, including Vatulele Island Resort, Tokoriki Island Resort, Turtle Island, Wakaya Island and Matamanoa Island.

Snorkeling and scuba diving

Fiji is famous for having the most colorful coral in the world and mixed with the diverse sea life, you can't go wrong with snorkeling or scuba diving in Fiji. For some amazing scuba diving, check out the Somosomo Straight, between Taveuni and Vanua Levu, for the amazing Rainbow Reef and its White Wall. The Bequa Lagoon, near the Coral Coast, is also a great location for diving.

Golf

If you're looking for a golf vacation, Fiji probably isn't the best choice. Fiji's Denarau Golf Course is probably the only course worth your time!

Nightlife

If your looking for great nightlife, Fiji is not the best destination to choose. Most hotels have some sort of island entertainment that consists of food and a traditional dancing show. This is a wonderful evening to experience on your honeymoon or romantic getaway, as they will often point out that you're newlyweds and maybe even pull you up on stage. Only a few, larger hotels also offer bars or clubs.

Affordable Fiji

Fiji can be an expensive location, especially if you want to stay at a private island resort. If this isn't necessary, there are cheaper ways to do Fiji. Try staying on one of the two main islands, Vitu Levu or Vanua Levu. Both have some amazing hotels without the higher price mark. You can take day excursions from the mainland to small, private islands for about $60 p/p. That is a cheap way to get the small island experience for much less money.
